Backend Chapter Lead - BirApp Tribe

The Backend Chapter Lead is the professional leader of the Java/Spring Boot engineering discipline. The role is fully focused on people development, engineering quality, processes, and the growth of engineering maturity. 

• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot
• Understanding of distributed and high-load systems
• Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps approaches, and engineering automation
• Ability to conduct architectural assessments and high-quality code reviews
• Experience implementing engineering practices (except DDD — removed per request)

• Develop backend engineers through mentoring, coaching and Learning & Development programs
• Lead hiring, grading, onboarding, and employee evaluation
• Build and maintain engineering practices: coding standards, code review culture, architectural discipline
• Conduct quality audits: code quality, architectural maturity, technical debt
• Drive and support CI/CD practices and engineering automation
• Lead R&D initiatives, PoC work, and the adoption of new technologies
• Create and maintain Processes | Procedures | Standards documentation
• Participate in performance reviews and competency planning
• Support and implement the Development CoE strategy within the tribe
• Monitor engineering maturity and technical KPIs of the tribe
• Handle administrative duties: vacations, rotations, discipline, business trips.
